The state Public Service Commission unanimously approved a plan for nearly $700 million in cost overruns on its $10 billion nuclear reactor project in Jenkinsville. After flooding closed parts of Main Road, one of the primary access roads for Johns Island, this week, state transportation and CSX railway company officials say they hope to have a solution in place in time for the next big storm to mitigate high floodwaters. Source: P&C
State environmental health officials have signed off on an air pollution permit for Giti Tire to build a massive new manufacturing facility in Chester County. The permit, one of the biggest regulatory hurdles for the tire giant, limits the factory to releasing 25 tons of hazardous air pollutants each year.
