Girls Rock Charleston, along with We Are Family, Trans Love Fund, and Southerners On New Ground, will host Resist/Dance this Fri. Sept. 25 at 9 p.m. at Storehouse 10 (2120 Noisette Blvd.).
Resist/Dance is a music, dance, and karaoke event showcasing local artists, including Grace Joyner, Sweatlands, Push the Silver, Infinitikiss, Southern Femisphere, Lily Slay, Mechanical River, DJ Lanatron, DJ MJ-12, DJ Party Dad, and many more.
Proceeds will partially go toward bringing Patrisse Cullors — a national LGBTQ organizer and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement — to Charleston on Thurs. Oct. 15 for We Are Family’s Spirit Day.
“We Are Family hosts Spirit Day each year in order to visibilize LGBTQ issues and to provide queer youth in Charleston with a platform to speak about themselves and their lives,” the Girls Rock organization said in a press release.
In addition to Spirit Day, the event will also benefit Trans Love Fund and Girls Rock Charleston.
Admission to Resist/Dance is $10 and the event starts at 7 p.m.
