Go ahead and find a good time tomorrow between 11-3 p.m. and block off 15 minutes for your UberKittens appointment. Yep, it’s just what it sounds like. Uber is delivering you 15 minutes of playtime with one of the furry little guys currently living at the Frances R. Willis SPCA in Summerville. You read that right. 15 minutes of kitten time delivered to your doorstep.
To participate, just fire up your Uber app on Thursday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and slide over to the “KITTENS” option. For a $30 “snuggle fee,” you can pet and cuddle all you want for 15 minutes. A portion of the cost will go back to the SPCA, Uber tells us. A little hesitant to spring for that snuggle fee? Oh come on, you know there’s that one person in your office who is willing to split it with you. Just make sure the boss is cool with it and you have an enclosed space that’s kitten-ready.
UberKittens is happening in cities across the country, but Charleston is the only market in South Carolina. In many cities, the ride-hailing service says the cats participating are up for adoption. We reached out to the folks up at the SPCA and they say that all the furballs being chauffeured around town tomorrow will be up for adoption after the event is complete.
