On Sat. Jan. 9 Artisan Meat Share will host Chef Todd Richards and his Southern fried chicken from 5-8 p.m. for a sneak preview of dishes from his new restaurant opening in Atlanta’s Krog Street Market. His traveling food truck will serve chicken sandwiches, three piece whole wings, and chicken meals with cornbread, pickles, and a side dish.

Formerly the executive chef at Atlanta’s The Shed at Glenwood, Richards’ chicken made Atlanta Magazine‘s top 10 places to get fried chicken last year with the mag saying, “Richards browns his bird to a rich cocoa hue until it achieves serious crispness. Elusive spices that bring to mind curry powder enliven each bite.” Yum.

Richards serves his chicken three ways: classic, hot, and Richards’ hot. Hot chicken seems to be having a moment right now, with area restaurants like Chick’s Fry House announcing today that their hot chicken is now a menu staple. Compare and contrast the two on Jan. 9.
