Slow Runner fans who caught the old-school Charleston faves at some point during Jump, Little Children’s Church and Queen tour already know the good news: the duo — Josh Kaler and Michael Flynn — recently reunited and recorded a new album. The news was officially revealed today via the band’s new label, Hearts & Plugs.

In February of last year, Flynn headed to Nashville to see Kaler, and the duo started messing around with a few unfinished songs. “Doing almost everything in the same room was revelatory as we’ve mostly been more like back-and-forth collaborators in the recording process,” Flynn says. “Musically, it was like finding that ratty cardigan you wore in college and trying it on to find that it miraculously still fits and feels fantastic, regardless of how ridiculous you look.”

The record, New Monsters, was available at Jump shows on CD but will have an official release on Fri. March 25. The release show will take place on Sat. April 2 at the Pour House. New Monsters will also be available on vinyl, as will 2008’s Mermaids. Both will be released on Hearts & Plugs.
