Once again, the theory is being offered that this students didn’t know what they were doing was racist.

It’s been offered up many times, here and elsewhere.

In fact, it’s become the most common excuse.

Black face frat party.

N**ger T-shirts

(I’m completely missing something.)

Anything short of a lynching can be explained away with this excuse. Then again, considering the way unarmed Af-Am men are gunned down by police, and maybe that’s not good enough. The only person who really seems to own up to his own prejudices is Dylann Roof.

Surely, so many people cannot be unaware of America’s horrid history? Have our school systems failed?

I don’t think so.

The truth is, history is one of the most maligned courses of studies. There’s simply no money in it and for most folks they simply don’t see how history posses any relevance to their lives today. As a history major, I believe this more strongly than most. And so I’d like to offer all of our history-adverse readers a crash course in American history.
