Are you a writer looking to make your first big break? Well, The City Quill is looking for you.
Launched by four friends from the College of Charleston, the new literary magazine is currently accepting submissions for their debut issue. The City Quill is looking for poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction entries from writers who have yet to be published. Keep in mind that this doesnโt rule out those who have contributed to their school newspapers or a blog.
The City Quill is operated by KT Babb, who is serving as the editor in chief for the first issue, poetry editor Georgia Hertz, fiction editor Taylor Johnson, and nonfiction editor Arianna Santos. While Babb is helming the first installment and aiming for a May 21 release date, she says the four editors will rotate from issue to issue.
โItโs a creative outlet so people who are really passionate about creative writing can get their ideas out there because it can be kind of discouraging to get published the first time,โ says Babb. โWe just wanted to make something that was quality, but also approachable and attainable, so people donโt feel so intimidated when they are trying to send work in.โ
Once released, issues of The City Quill will be distributed to various shops around town and available for purchase online. For instructions on how to submit your original work, visit cityquill.com. Your deadline is April 15.ย
