Things got testy yesterday as State Supreme Court Justice Donald Beatty testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is tasked with assessing the suitability of Beatty’s elevation to Chief Justice. After an exchange with state Sen. Larry Martin (R-Pickens) in which Beatty struck back at Martin over some insinuation regarding a close-door talk he gave to state prosecutors in 2013. “Let me withdraw every comment I just made,” Beatty said after collecting himself. “That might be advisable,” Martin responded.
