It was lights, camera, action yesterday afternoon in McCrady’s kitchen. Once again chefs Sean Brock and BJ Dennis were in the spotlight for the latest film crew to roll into town. This time it was PBS’ Moveable Feast starring Australian supermodel, er, chef Pete Evans.

Now in its fourth season, in each episode of the series Evans visits a different American city and hangs out with two chefs as they introduce him to the area’s farms and fields before celebrating with, well, a feast. For the Charleston visit, however, Evans is making two episodes. The first, with Brock and Dennis and the second, filmed today, with Mike Lata and Jason Stanhope.

By the time we arrived at McCrady’s yesterday afternoon, Brock and Dennis were already well into prep. They’d spent the morning with Greg Johnsman at his Geechie Boy Mill before heading into the kitchen.

Meanwhile, The Cocktail Bandits — Johnny Caldwell and Taneka Reaves — were on hand creating drinks out of locally sourced products, like Sullivans Island’s own limeade, Hooch.

While the chefs were too busy to talk, I got a word with the host.

“It’s been awesome,” said Evans. “I come in as an outsider and we work with two chefs who are friends. With Sean and BJ, there’s a really nice rapport. They know what each other’s strengths are. They’re old mates.”

An official air date hasn’t been assigned yet for the Charleston episodes of Moveable Feast, but we’ll keep you posted.
