Today Charleston County libraries, in conjunction with the Cynthia Graham Hurd Foundation, Live 5 News, and Reading Partners, announced a month-long book drive to collect new and gently used books during the month of June.

Reading partners empowers students through one-on-one tutoring sessions with local volunteers, trying everyday to change this statistic: eight out of 10 fourth graders from low-income families cannot read at grade level. People interested in donating books can drop them off at six Charleston County library locations starting June 1. These libraries are: Dorchester Road Regional, St. Andrews Regional, John’s Island Regional, Mt. Pleasant Regional, Otranto Road Regional, and downtown’s Main Library.
