USA Today music podcast Dad Rock name-checked a few South Carolina musicians yesterday on its weekly show, Tuesdays with Mary.
Host Mary Nahorniak was joined by long-time friend, former USC classmate, and current Columbia resident Tug Baker, who described She Returns From War’s Hunter Park as one of the best songwriters in South Carolina at the moment.
Baker also recounted the early jazz days of one-time Columbia act Toro y Moi, gave props to Grace Joyner, Can’t Kids, Columbia music blog Scene SC, and local label Hearts & Plugs, and highlighted the exciting, reciprocal music community shared between Charleston and Columbia.
