Remember when Southern Season opened a small Taste store on Market Street in May? Well, it may close.

According to the Post & Courier, the bankrupt Chapel Hill-based chain “is seeking a judgeโ€™s permission to close its downtown Charleston store because it canโ€™t afford to keep operating it.”

This closure comes right on the heels of the company’s shuttering of it’s Mt. Pleasant Southern Season mega store and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June. P&C‘s John McDermott reports that an inventory liquidation at 139 Market St. could begin as early as this Saturday. That’s if Judge Benjamin A. Kahn approves the closure which will be decided at a hearing in Greensboro today at 4 p.m.

The store could be entirely closed by Aug. 31.
