RiverDogs baseball is less than one month away. But this week, we got our first look at some of the highlights of the season to come.

And just like out on the diamond, there will likely be some home runs and some strikeouts. Here’s our arbitrary power ranking of which of this season’s promo nights you won’t want to miss. Opening night is April 6.

1) Tony the Peanut Man night (April 12)
We’ll definitely miss Tony at the park this season. Glad to see him being honored. Giveaway: First 1,000 fans get a free Tony pin by Proton.

2) Rainbows Night (July 31)
Throwback Rainbows gear is some of the most sought-after for RiverDogs faithful. Get it before it’s gone. Uniform auctions will benefit Charleston Pride.

3) Baseball promo night night (August 5)

They’re calling this a “horrifying mash up of themes.” Really: A theme night devoted to desperate theme nights. So, naturally we’re interested. Not to get your hopes up, but they’re promising “one of the ugliest promotional jerseys to date.”

4) Pope hat night (August 2)
When the pitching coach’s last name is Pope, you have a Pope hat night. Giveaway: 1,248 pope hats, one for each strikeout last season.

5) Cinco de Mayo (May 5)
That’s mayo as in mayonnaise. It’s going to be great.

6) ‘String Night’ (April 22)
This is ostensibly a String Appreciation Night (cheese, silly, etc.) Probably the only time you’ll hear about string theory at a minor league baseball game.

7) 843s vs. Tourists (June 6)
They’ll be selling $40 t-shirts to non-locals as the R-Dogs take on the Asheville Tourists. (The Tourists used to have the best mascot in all the land, IMO.) Giveaway: Discount for 843 residents.

8) Eclipse Day (August 21)
Show up early to watch the total solar eclipse and stick around for an early game. Giveaway: Eclipse sunglasses

9) Umpire Appreciation Night (July 22)
Only makes the list because there’s a ‘bobble-wrist’ giveaway. Giveaway: See above.

10) Star Wars Night (May 6)
Still not sure how they get away with the Star Wars trademark ick here, but stop by and see our friends from the 501st and Rebel legions.

Honorable Mentions:
Pirates Night, May 21
Father’s Day Brunch, June 18
Independence Day, July 3
One-Hit Wonders Night, August 4
Fan Appreciation Night/RiverDogs Garage Sale, August 31

Only go if you have kids:
Disney Sing-Along Night, August 18
