What if we told you that you could get your speakeasy on? That there’s a new cabaret in town, making its debut March 24? Well, it’s true. What If? Productions will transform Threshold Repertory Theatre into a cozy cabaret space for its first ever Piano Bar Series.

Charleston’s own theatrical nightingale, Brian Porter, and jazz maven, Peggy Lewis, will headline two shows each, and celebrity mixologist Sarah Martin will work her bar (and conversational) magic on all four nights.

With help from special guests, including accompanist Kevin Thorn, two-time Charleston City Paper Best Local Actress winner Becca Anderson, and Brannen Daugherty (Thrill Me, Amadeus), Porter plans to perform personal faves, standards, and classics from Broadway’s Cabaret, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, The Bridges of Madison County, Hamilton, Taboo, and more. Meanwhile, Lewis, whose past includes a life based in Manhattan headlining in supper clubs, will present jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, regaling the audience with stories of her adventures as a traveling musician.

Porter’s shows are set for March 24 and March 31, while Lewis runs the show on March 25 and April 1. All performances start at 7:30 p.m.
