[image-1] Here we are, it’s Monday. Another Monday. How was your weekend? Good. Yea, I know … back at it. Your couple days off might have been great, especially if you’re a sports fan, but I guarantee your weekend wasn’t as interesting as Darius Rucker’s.

Yea, that Darius Rucker. Hootie. Grand Ole Opry member. Yep.

It all started on Friday afternoon at 3:48 p.m. when an email landed in our Inbox letting the world know that Darius was getting his own wax figure at Madame Tussauds. Pretty remarkable in itself, and a pretty good start to anyone’s weekend.

So far: Darius Rucker, the Charleston-native frontman of ’90s college rock sensation Hootie and the Blowfish, out of Columbia, S.C., who reinvented himself as a Grammy-winning country music superstar, gets his own wax figure. In Nashville.

Then, a few hours later, after he was introduced as a country music wax figure, 50-year old Rucker took the stage at the College of Charleston for a special one-night-only appearance of Hootie and the freakin’ Blowfish.

Then, sometime during the Hootie show (probably): The South Carolina Gamecocks (Darius’ alma mater, he’s a huge fan) beat Baylor University to advance to the Elite 8 and CMT aired a pre-recorded live show featuring Rucker and John Mellencamp.

So far: Darius gets his own wax figure in Nashville and then reunites with his bandmates nearly 23 years after ‘Cracked Rear View’ debuted for a show at a college whose current freshmen were born in 1999. While he was on stage, the USC Gamecocks crushed the Baylor Bears to advance to the Elite 8.

Then, on Sunday, Darius traveled to New York City with his son to witness perhaps the most improbable thing that happened to him during a weekend of improbables: His South Carolina Gamecocks basketball team defeated the Florida Gators to cut down the nets in Madison Square Garden and become one of four teams remaining in the NCAA National Championship tournament.

To recap: Wax figure, CofC reunion show, Gamecock men Sweet 16 victory, Primetime John Mellencamp special on CMT, Gamecock women Sweet 16 victory, Gamecock men Final Four berth.

Hope your Monday has you feelin’ as good as Darius. [embed-3]
