At last night’s sold out Taco Tequila Kombat, presented by the Taco Kick Society and held at The Brick, two local restaurants brought their taco A-games in the battle to see who has the best taco in Charleston.

As one of the taco and tequila judges I have the very difficult job of picking the best pairings at the event, held each month from 9-11 p.m. Last night, though, the judges’ choice was unanimous: Amen Street took home the gold with their riff on Rice Krispies’ Snap, Crackle, Pop. Served in a Rice Krispies’ box (bonus points for creativity), the wreckfish taco (snap) topped with pickled veggies and served with seasoned chips (crackle) paired perfectly with the take on a Baja Blast (pop), made with Lunazul tequila.
