Yes, that was Charleston’s Dead 27s you heard in the opening scene and end credits of comedian Rory Scovel’s Netflix special this week.

Debuted on Wed. June 21, the show is called Rory Scovel Tries Stand-Up For the First Time, and it’s produced by Jack White’s Third Man Records.

White is executive producer and is also featured in a sketch from the special (see above). Scovel, a Greenville, S.C. native, is linked to the band through his Carolina roots.

“Our guitarist, Will Evans, grew up with Rory,” drummer Daniel Crider tells the City Paper. “He asked us to write a song specifically for the opening scene, that they used in the end credits as well.”

Third Man approved the track, entitled “Rory,” and will release it on vinyl at a date to be determined.
