[image-9]Charlotte-based chain Ink N Ivy is slated to open at 565 King St. later this week. CP Arts Editor Connelly Hardaway got an early taste of the flamboyantly decorated restaurant’s eats last week, but now we have the official menus in hand and it’s a multi-page tome of anywhere USA standards.
[content-1] You’ve got your surefire hits: quesadillas, shrimp and grits, fried oysters, nachos, Caesar salad, chicken wings, and burgers. That’s bookended by tweaks on other classics, a BLT with salmon, crab cake sliders, and an Ink’d Bouillabaisse so called due to the “squid ink orzo.”
The cocktail list is equally large with a pun-heavy list of drinks like the Mexican Standoff (El Jimador, Mezcal, Campari, Lime, Chili, Charcoal Salt), Sorry Not Sorry (Cathead Vodka, St Germain, Watermelon, Lime, Mint), and Oaxocan in Memphis (Peanut Banana Dickel, Sherry, Mezcal, Lime, Jam, Nutter Butter).
[image-2]Most promising are the brunch offerings which will likely please the weekend hangover crowd. Our money is on the chicken and waffles and the Walk of Shame Burger for most bed-spin healing properties. Ink N Ivy is a dark cavernous space and if you can just focus on your fries and not the wall of Elizabethan-clothed pet pictures, you might recover from whatever debauchery you indulged in the night before.
