You probably see camera crews all over Charleston. Like all the time. From Jessica Biel’s Sinner to Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes to Danny McBride’s Vice Principals — you get the idea — TV crews love filming in our city. And this Friday you can check out one of the latest projects to use Charleston as its backdrop, Marlon Wayans’ Naked. The show premieres this Fri. Aug. 11. on Netflix.

The premise of Naked is that Rob (played by Wayans) is on his way to the chapel to marry the love of his life when alas he winds up naked in an elevator, stuck in a time loop. You know, the classic rom-com trope. Groundhog Day (the film is, in fact, a take on the Swedish comedy, Naken, which is based partly on the Bill Murray classic) meets … The Blue Lagoon?

Naked filmed in Charleston last October; In November P&C detailed some of those familiar spots, which include Upper King’s The Daily, North Charleston’s Riverfront Park, Broad Street, and the Mills House. Meeting Street’s Second Presbyterian Church also serves as the site of the film’s wedding.

If deja vu in your own life gives you a headache, then deja vu in this movie may very well drive you insane. But hey, maybe that’s just us. Check out the trailer below to decide for yourself.
