[embed-1] In case you didn’t know, Groundhog Day is a musical. The Broadway show has received critical acclaim, with Vogue calling it “funny, heartfelt, and uplifting,” and the New York Times chiming in with the description, “bright whirling of a show.” Delightful.

But while Groundhog Day the musical premiered last year, it wasn’t until last night that Bill Murray — the star of the original film, of course — saw the production. And according to the NYT, it made him cry.

NYT culture writer Sopan Deb live tweeted the whole thing, initially teasing the world with his first tweet:

[embed-4] And the grand finale? Well, according to Deb, Murray cried his eyes out:
[embed-6] Murray stayed pretty emotional post-show, too, telling Deb that Harold Ramis, Groundhog Day’s director, would have been “flabbergasted by the musical,” and giving the cast an “amazing speech.”

At the end of the day, Deb wanted to relive the whole night. We’re right there with him.
