[image-1]Charleston Waterkeeper, a local nonprofit whose mission is to protect, restore, and promote the quality of Charleston’s waterways, presents a new event, Tour de Ashley, this October. The free day-long celebration, sponsored by Toyota and Waterkeeper Alliance, is held at theBEND on the banks of the Ashley River, and features live music, food from Rebel Taqueria and King of Pops, and beer from Tradesman and Low Tide Brewing. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and chairs to relax from 3-7 p.m.

In addition to this celebration, Charleston Waterkeeper and the Charleston Kayak Company have paired up to present a five-mile kayak tour of the Ashley River — one that they tell us looks the same as it did 200 years ago. Led by Luke Pope-Corbett and a team of professional guides and naturalists, 100 percent of proceeds from this tour ($65/per person) will be donated to Charleston Waterkeeper’s efforts to protect and restore the Ashley River for fishing and paddling. The tour takes off at 10 a.m. Reserve your spot online.
