[image-1] As part of the College of Charleston’s international piano series, pianist Tanya Gabrielian performs at Sottile Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the general public and free for CofC students and faculty. You can buy tickets online.

Gabrielian is a woman of many talents. For starters, she was admitted to Harvard University at the age of 16 to study biomedical engineering. When Gabrielian decided that music was her real calling, she headed to the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and later, to The Juilliard School, where she was the only candidate accepted for the Artist Diploma, a selective post-graduate residency.

The London Times has described Gabrielian as “a pianist of powerful physical and imaginative muscle.” Beyond her musical prowess, Gabrielian is an activist, working to bring art into schools, and developing a platform to address the stigma around mental health.
