This weekend at The Coastal Cupboard in Belle Hall, bring in your dull (non-serrated) kitchen knives for a $1 professional sharpening. Every dollar goes toward feeding Lowcountry families in need this Thanksgiving.
The weekend-long event takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, and benefits local nonprofit the Charleston Basket Brigade. The Brigade’s mission is to feed 3,500 Charleston area families this turkey day — it only takes $30 to feed a family of six and every penny donated is utilized to purchase food. Those who receive Basket Brigade baskets receive a 10-12 lb. turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fresh rolls, and a pumpkin pie. Inside the box is an anonymous letter that reads, “This comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else one day.”
Owner of The Coastal Cupboard, Brad Pitner said, “This is a great opportunity to do something you’ve been thinking of doing all year: sharpening up those kitchen knives. But if you do it this weekend at our store, you can help local families need. This is always a fun and busy charity event, thanks to the support of the community.”
This weekend at Coastal Cupboard there will also be knife skill demos, food samples, and cutlery specials including marked down prices on some of the best cutlery brands in the industry like Wusthof, Shun, Henckels, and more.
