Friday
Boone Hall Fright nights are the perfect way to kick off your Halloweek; whether it’s haunted hayrides you’re after, or the chance to wander through the Cemetery of Lost Souls, there’s something spooky for everyone. The lines get long, so head over before the gates open at 7:15 p.m.
St. Andrew’s Gymnasium hosts the annual Halloween Carnival, complete with family-friendly fun for the whole clan. Games, prizes, and a haunted hayride all for the price of just $1? Sign us up!
Hocus Pocus is officially not on Netflix (we double checked), which means that if you want to catch the Halloween classic, you’re going to have to suffer through commercial breaks. Unless, of course, you make the much more sensible choice to head over to the MUSC Health Stadium at 5 p.m., where the Halloween classic will be shown on the lawn alongside food trucks, jump castles, and a full bar.
Cellar Experience brings some of the mysteries (and spooky histories) of wine to light at their Halloween wine tasting, starting at 6 p.m.
Spooky stuff not your thing? Head over to Wild Blue Ropes for a couple’s night climb. From 6-9 p.m., explore all the obstacles the course has to offer; once you come back to the ground, indulge in a (BYO) fireside picnic with your boo.
Bring your best costume to Charleston Beer Works’ Halloween bash, which kicks off at 8 p.m. and offers food and drink specials and a costume contest.
Cocktail Club hosts a new kind of costume party; you only qualify for the contest if you’re dressed as a dead celebrity. The fun kicks off with drink specials and tunes at 9 p.m.
Saturday
If you’re still trying to hang onto the last few drops of summer, Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. celebrates the release of their new collaborative brew, brewed with over 140 gallons of Bradford Watermelon juice, all day Saturday.
It might be the only Halloween-themed paddleboard race, but it’s definitely the scariest. Head over to Charleston SUP Safaris at 9 a.m. on Saturday to take part in the spookiest race to ever hit the waves. A portion of the proceeds support Youth to Ocean, and costumes are encouraged (but not required).
The weather dropped into the 50s three times this week, which means it high time for a fall festival; head over to Mt. Pleasant Towne Centre for jump castles, face painting, and live music. The highlight of the day promises to be the pet-costume contest, where you can dress up your furry friend in the name of raising money for Pet Helpers.
Take a break from all things spooky and step into a night in Casablanca for the 13th Annual Pet Helper’s Fur Ball. Dinner, drinks, and dancing will all help raise money for Pet Helpers; the night begins at 6:30 p.m.
Cutty’s hosts an 80’s themed Halloween party that promises to be Spooktacular; even better, it also promises free pizza and a costume contest, starting at 9 p.m.
Head to the Terrace Theater at 11:30 p.m. for a Halloween Film Fest, featuring both The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
First it was vampires, then werewolves, and now, pop culture (and South Sea’s Tiki Bar) is giving zombies the spotlight they deserve. Head over to the bar in your best zombie garb at for an apocalyptic costume party, plus a zombie themed movie and cocktail.
It doesn’t matter how old you get, Halloween is all about the candy, so you might as well get in a good workout before the trick-or-treating begins. Head over to the Barre Code at 9 a.m. for a 75 minute Halloween-themed boot camp.
The Trick or Trot 5k kicks off at 9 a.m. at DIG in the Park, benefitting We Are Family, and including a costume contest (for humans and their furry friends.)
Bay Street Biergarten hosts a Football Fright Fest, inviting you to sample a special witches brew and dress in your spookiest sports-related costume.
Sunday
Everyone’s favorite Sunday Brunch farmers market, the Pour House, will be just a little bit spookier this week as we all gear up for Halloween. The market runs from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Head to the Charleston Music Hall for a screening of The Exorcist, accompanied by a live music score, starting at 7 p.m.
Raise money and awareness at the Zero Prostate Cancer Run/Walk at the Hanahan Recreation Center, starting at 7 a.m.
What’s better than an oyster roast, you ask? Holy City Brewing has the answer: a Halloween-themed oyster roast, complete with a sunset kayak paddle tour, at 4:30 p.m.
Holy City Salsa hosts a Halloween costume contest, plus an intro to salsa lesson, at 7:30 p.m.
