Manhattan bar owner T.J. Lynch is opening a bar on Folly. The owner of Mother’s Ruin, Lynch confirmed this morning that he and his business partner Matt McGarry will be opening LOWLIFE at 106 E. Hudson Ave.

Lynch, who PUNCH reports started his career as a chef, is known for his laidback approach and welcoming atmosphere at his Nolita location where the website says “expect shit to get weird.” And like Mother’s Ruin, he promises much of the same at LOWLIFE.

“The concept is simple, a casual, neighborhood beach bar,” writes Lynch in an email.  “With our usual style of offerings; solid cocktails, slushy machine, and loaded Tecates. The food menu will have some Mother’s hits like the Fried Chicken Sandwich, but leaning more seafood heavy (we’re at the beach after all!).”

Locals may be familiar with Lynch from his BevCon visit. While here for the beverage conference, Lynch served up drinks at Home Team BBQ during the event’s Aug. 22 pop-up.

BevCon founder Angel Postell says Lynch also was on a BevCon panel about frozen drinks, something that’s his signature.

“I’ve been to his bar in New York and it’s awesome,” says Postell. “It’s casual, but it reminded me of like being on an island.” Fitting that he’s headed to the beach.

Lynch says you can expect to see LOWLIFE open this Spring.
