This weekend local filmmaking company, Lunch and Recess, took home Best Documentary at Greenville, S.C.’s Reedy Reels Film Festival for their feature documentary, Backpedal. Directed by Ryan Cockrell, the film follows the controversy surrounding Charleston’s Ashley River Bridge. This is the third festival award for the film, which was also recognized at the New York Bicycle Film Fest and Depth of Field International Film Festival.

In a director’s statement Cockrell says, “Backpedal is the most significant documentary ever made about Charleston, except for Southern Charm. I promise you’ll love it. It’s almost as funny as sitting through a city council meeting.” Check the trailer out below.
