As a continuation of a project that started with an African-American Film Series, Unity of Charleston presents the documentary, Out of Ireland, this Sun. Dec. 17 at 1 p.m.
The film tells the story of Irish immigration to America. Unity of Charleston hopes that viewing films like these and holding open discussions will not only help viewers gain a deeper understanding of American history, but to see how events like these shape the way our society works today.
The film viewings take place on the third Sunday of each month, with the next one after Ireland held on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. Going forward, Unity plans to show different films focused on different cultural groups and issues in American history. Suggestions and ideas are welcome, as Unity wants to make the viewings as inclusive and relevant as possible.
Unity of Charleston is located at 2535 Leeds Ave., and donations are encouraged at each showing.
