The next Star Wars film may not be coming out until December of next year, but that doesn’t mean you and the kiddos can’t celebrate all things Star Wars before then. Head to the Main Library, located in downtown Charleston, for a day full of Star Wars fun this Sat. Oct. 13 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Stars Wars Reads day is free and open to the public.

Kids of all ages can have their pictures taken with the Carolina Garrison chapter of the 501st Legion, who will be dressed in lifelike gear. Guests have two chances to enjoy a Charleston Symphony Orchestra performance in the library auditorium, as well as robotics demonstrations, and a costume parade and contest. Stop by the Star Wars storytime in the children’s storytime room before checking out Solo: A Star Wars Story in the auditorium at 2 p.m.

Do all of these cool events have you thinking, “Wow, libraries rock!” ? You’re not alone. Peep this week’s cover story for more info on the free, fun, and important stuff going on in libraries all over town.
