Anna Lepeley has her PhD in exercise biochemistry and nutrition research. Needless to say, she knows what she’s talking about when she says, “Beer is good for you.” Join Lepeley for a seminar on the health benefits of beer at Frothy Beard Brewing on Sun. Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Lepeley, a “health educator by day and a stand-up comedian by night,” is an exercise, nutrition, and dietary supplement educator, as well as an author and consultant. She’s even written a couple of books, including the aptly titled Beer Is Good For You.

An excerpt for Beer Is Good For You gives you an idea of why beer can be A-OK (with tongue in cheek, of course — Lepeley is a comedian, after all): “Beer contains silicon, not to be confused with silicone — as in silicone breast implants. The silicon in beer won’t increase your breast size but it can make your bones stronger. It’s no wonder you’ve been able to withstand so many drunken falls.”
