British Airways will be flying nonstop between Charleston to London’s Heathrow airport on Thursdays and Sundays beginning April 4, 2019. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

To fly nonstop from Charleston to Heathrow, the eight hour flight departs at 10:50 p.m., arriving at 11:50 a.m. local time. Passengers will travel aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the same planes built next door to CHS at Boeing South Carolina.

“London’s Heathrow Airport is considered a gateway. British Airways offers service from Heathrow to over 130 destinations in Europe, Asia and beyond,” said Paul Campbell, CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority in a press release. “We are excited to open the world to Charleston.”

The Charleston International Airport is investing approximately $9 million to expand their kitchen, customs, and tarmac operations to support this and other long-haul destinations.
