S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control is offering free flu shots on Friday, Oct. 26 ahead of the flu season.

The free flu shots will be given out from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at R. B. Stall High School (3625 Ashley Phosphate Rd.) in North Charleston. No appointment is necessary, but children under the age of 16 will need a parent or legal guardian present.

DHEC encourages everyone six months or older to get vaccinated every flu season.

Dr. Tracy Foo, DHEC Immunization Medical Consultant, said in a press release “Last flu season was one of the worst in recent years and highlights the importance of getting your flu vaccine.”

Last year the Lowcountry had more than 24,963 positive influenza tests, 1,032 hospitalizations, and sixty deaths, according to DHEC reports.
