James Island County Park’s Holiday Festival of Lights returns on Fri. Nov. 9, bringing with it the chance to check out a lot of cool lights (naturally), enjoy kid-friendly activities, and give back to humans and animals in need in the Lowcountry. While the festival takes place daily Nov. 9-Jan. 1, there are special discount evenings each weekday, Mon.-Thurs. starting Nov. 12.

Each year James Island County Park offers festival attendees the opportunity to bring a canned food item to the lights for a $5 discount on vehicle admission (typically $20/per vehicle with 1-15 guests). Donations support those in need this holiday season; at last year’s festival 13,751 pounds of food were donated to Lowcountry Food Bank, providing an estimated 11,459 to those in need.
In addition to donations at the gate, the Holiday Festival of Lights is currently participating in a Lowcountry Food Bank food drive at Chick-fil-A restaurants. Today, Oct. 29-Nov. 2, guests who bring canned food items for donation to local Chick-fil-A restaurants will receive a coupon for $5 admission to the Holiday Festival of Lights, Mondays-Thursdays.

And in case you’ve never driven through the winter wonderland that is the Holiday Festival of Lights, just a friendly reminder that this annual event is more than just pretty lights. Guests can also enjoy marshmallow roasting, festival train rides, enchanted walking trail, a portable climbing wall, and gift shops.

There is entertainment at the festival on select evenings, too — be sure to check the full schedule online
