Bizness Suit describe themselves as “rock ‘n’ roll with a bit of bluesy funkiness,” and they’re gearing up for a 2019 summer tour after just completing a round of new recordings. Let’s see where these guys get their inspiration from in this week’s Beat Juice.
What is your biggest creative inspiration right now?
We all have very different inspirations, but I think the top three for the past songs we’ve been working on are heavily influenced by the Rolling Stones, Bob Seeger, and the Arctic Monkeys album AM in particular.
What song is stuck in your head today?
“Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats. It’s been a weird day…

Last album you bought?
Real late to the party on this one, but “Brothers” by the Black Keys.
Recent musical discovery?
Great band from Nashville called Liz Cooper and the Stampede. One of the best live shows we’ve ever seen.
Fave local venue?
Tie between My Father’s Moustache and The Sparrow. Runner up goes to Royal American. Our last show there was a blast.
What’s your best go-to T-shirt?
Drew has a white T with “Blink If You Want Me” in big, black letters. Sean has a rotation of Star Wars shirts (and numerous socks). Jeremy has this Witchsister shirt. We played a show with them a few months back, and it has the coolest design on it. I think we’ve only ever seen Hunter in a Bizness Suit…
Your hangover cure is …
Rule number 1: Stay hydrated.
Last show you went to?
Infinitikiss, Late Night TV, Feverest, and Pierce Alexander at Sparrow (you should check them all out).
What station’s always on your radio dial?
It’s a rotation of 105.5, 98.1 and 101.7. Love when the ’80s come on 101.7.
Your musical style can be compared to?
We’ve been compared to The Cult because of Sean’s voice, but I think we are trying to be a heavier sounding Arctic Monkeys, or a funkier sounding Queens of the Stone Age. As a group, we have a lot of different influences, so it tends to pull our songs in all different directions.
What band have you been meaning to listen to?
Black Power Mixtape. These guys rock. In fact, I’m going to go listen to them now.
What’s next for you? Shows, videos, song or album releases?
We are at Sparrow Feb. 2. Purple Buffalo Feb. 9, and then we are out of town for a music convention in Pennsylvania. We are excited that we just recorded five or six new songs, and we are preparing to release them in the spring or summer. We are also working on our first big tour this summer. It’s about to be a busy year!
Bizness Suit will also perform Thurs. March 7 with Little Vicious and DUMB Doctors at the Royal American.
