Join Reading Against Racism in their meeting starting at 6:15 p.m. at the Charleston County Public Library, and take part in the conversation discussing Debby Irving’s book, Waking Up White: and Finding Myself in the Story of Race, and deepen your understanding of racial injustice.
Frothy Beard Brewing Co. is hosting A Fireside Chat, with Charleston Green Drinks and The Nature Conservancy of South Carolina, discussing controlled burning in SC forests. The Chat starts at 5:30 p.m. and you can RSVP here.

Spend the weekend learning from Charleston writers as they discuss their beginnings here in the city with a Q&A, followed by a book-signing and reception. The event is the first of many in the Eudora Welty Society Conference.
Learn to build your online professional profile with a LinkedIn demonstration at Charleston County Public Library starting at 6 p.m.
Friday
Head over to the 3rd floor of the new Rita Hollings Science Center (58 Coming St.) for an open house at the College of Charleston Observatory.
Its Speak Easy Open Mic Night at Itinerant Literate Books starting at 7 p.m. Bring a poem, song, interpretive dance, or story to share with others, and hang out with featured guest Yvette Murray
Saturday
It’s Open Gaming at Here Be Books and Games. Stop by from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. to play games with friends, or learn how to play new ones.
See Charleston from a new perspective and hear stories about Charleston’s African-American history, featuring local historians Ruth M. Miller and Alex Cooley. Presentation starts at 3:30 p.m. at the Charleston County Public Library.
