In the Mix, a series presented by the College of Charleston’s arts management program, hosts a special finale (In the Mix: Live!) featuring the musical stylings of alumnus John Shields, best known as one of the two guys in hip-hop duo Little Stranger.

Free and open to the public, the event takes place on Mon. April 1 (no foolin!) at 6:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Simons Center for the Arts.

In the Mix explores “timely and engaging topics impacting the musical landscape on both a local and national level, while exposing audience members to industry insiders with real world experience and insight.”

Last month Grammy nominee and member of Ranky Tanky, Quentin Baxter, took over as host of In the Mix, following former host, Hootie & The Blowfish’s Mark Bryan.

In the Mix: Live! features presentations from current students and alumni who are actively involved in the music industry including: musician and tour manager Will Hastings; founder of Coast Records, Matt Zutell; in-arena host of the Charleston Stingrays, Stephen Pond; and founder and photographer at 9 to 5 Magazine, Taylor Czerwinski.

In addition to Shields, featured performers include singer-songwriter Jamie Gray and Nathan & Eva, a sibling folk duo whose cover of “Hero” by Family of the Year is a YouTube sensation.
