Tyrie released a video Dec.18 for his single “Drugs 4 Reality” from the local musician’s 2019 LP, Season 1. The video, directed by Nick Howle, depicts a trippy little spin around various Atlanta locations, from the woods to a MARTA station.
Tyrie’s combo of R&B and slow rap still holds up a year later, thanks to strangely endearing lyrics like, “I don’t need a cheat code to whoop your ass.” Or, “Tony Tiger’s such a flake.”
Howle’s direction for the video keeps the song’s feeling alive, showing Tyrie performing in various settings and perspectives. Little moments of weirdness, like multiple visions of Tyrie in the same shot and visual effects, make the video feel as alive and lost as the song’s content.
