More than 5,000 South Carolina patients have now died from COVID-19, health officials reported on Sunday. Cumulative totals continue adding up as thousands more coronavirus cases continue to be reported in the state each day.

The state Department of Health and Environmental Control said 3,952 new cases were reported on Sunday, with 28 additional deaths. In all, 5,042 people have died in South Carolina due to the virus.

With 13,364 tests reported Sunday, 29.6% were positive.

It remains easy to find a COVID-19 test if you need one. Free rapid tests will be available this week at Charleston International Airport without an appointment. Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the new parking garage. Signage will provide directions. For other tests, visit scdhec.gov/findatest.
