Comedy duo behind Nameless Numberhead announced last week they will host new comedy classes and a new series of shows at South of Broadway Theatre in March.
The classes, part of the duo’s new education program called the Charleston Comedy School, will teach improvisation and comedy sketch writing. Enrollment is now open for classes.
Beginning March 11, Numberhead members Henry Riggs and Maari Suorsa will host comedy shows at South of Broadway, beginning with a weekly showcase every Thursday. The goal of the shows will be to host local and regional improv troupes, stand up comedians, fringe artists and sketch comedy groups.
“We are dedicating ourselves to bringing more comedy to Charleston.” Suorsa said in a press release. “By programming more comedy nights in town and offering classes, we are actively trying to grow this city as a destination for Comedians.”
COVID-19 safety protocols will be in effect as well for classes and shows. Everyone is required to wear a mask, take their temperatures at the door and social distance on-stage and off.
Nameless Numberhead previously hosted comedy showcase Rip City at Theatre 99, where Riggs has taught improv comedy since 2018. Rip City moved online last year during the pandemic, and is now known as DigiRip.
