Alva Anderson will host the First Friday series at Forte Jazz Lounge beginning March 5. The international entertainer kicks off her first show at 7:00 p.m., followed by another performance at 9:30 p.m.

Anderson uses her talents as a vocalist and violist to play blues, jazz and folk tunes. Her sound is rustic yet contemporary with influences from Ella Fitzgerald and Ruth Brown. She has performed in orchestras that have accompanied big musicians such as the legendary bebop musician Dizzy Gillespie and influential jazz singer Carmen MacRea.

Anderson isn’t afraid to step out of her comfort zone with her music. She has songs in various languages from around the world. Anderson will perform the first Friday of the month in March and April. Guests can purchase tickets for a livestream or the concert in-person. Get tickets online at Forte’s website.
