Multi-instrumentalist Rick Colado, aka rickoLus, joins forces with Charleston singer-songwriter Harper Marchman-Jones for a performance on Wed., May 12, at the Tin Roof at 9 p.m. Colado has been producing his own music since 2012, and just dropped the EP, Bones. “It’s also an homage to a world that doesn’t exist anymore and deals with the bitter sweet predicament of getting old,” he said.
Colado’s psychedelic indie rock sounds like the Beatles of the 21st century. The Florida native has released nine EPs and six full-length records, playing the majority of the instruments himself. He has toured in the U.S. and Europe, and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
Jones is part of the local four-piece, YR LAD, an eclectic indie band that fuses diverse music traditions with Southern pop creations. “I don’t think I’d be doing what I’m doing now if I hadn’t heard Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco,” he said of his stylistic influences as a singer-songwriter.
YR LAD is set to start working on a new album, and Jones’ instrumental combo, Clint4, is playing at Holy City Brewing Co. on May 22.
