Half-Moon Outfitters

Half-Moon could be considered the prototypical local business success story. Starting with its first shops downtown and now with eight stores scattered over the region, Half-Moon is likely now the place you think of first when you need a new jacket, outdoor gear or just some new beach shoes. Local before it was cool, King Street has transformed into a retail destination since Half-Moon moved into its longtime downtown location in 2001. And, owner Beezer Moulton isn’t fazed by what’s to come for King Street, with the red big-box store set to open a couple blocks away. After the pandemic, Moulton hopes opportunities “open the door for some local retailers like Half-Moon, or like a young version of Half-Moon.” And if that isn’t enough, the company is planning its ninth store in Summerville early next year.
