Best Nachos
Home Team BBQ
Home Team BBQ is no stranger to Best of Charleston. City Paper readers recognize the soon-to-be 15-year-old restaurant — which has locations in West Ashley, Sullivan’s Island, downtown, Aspen, Columbia and one coming soon in Greenville — for its barbecue, wings, staff and atmosphere each year. And while nachos might not be your normal barbecue fare, Home Team’s have been a long time favorite for regulars and even owner Aaron Siegel, who says they’ve been dishing them out since 2006.
“It was first on our bar menu at West Ashley,” Siegel said. “The nachos are one of our best selling items. If I’m going to go eat at Home Team, I’m going to get the nachos and share them.”
Home Team’s barbecue nachos come piled high with cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, a trio of salsas, chimichurri, guacamole and your choice of pulled pork or chopped brisket. There’s no wrong way to order these nachos, which can certainly serve as an entire meal, but we prefer ours with queso cheese poured over the top (well worth the extra $2.95) and a bottle of HT’s Sweet Red barbecue sauce on hand for dipping.
“The nachos were kind of a culmination of the types of things that we were trying to do when we opened Home Team,” Siegel said.
