When COVID hit Charleston and quarantine orders were put into place, there was one thing on a lot of people’s minds: alcohol. With no bars or restaurants open and social gatherings restricted, it’s no surprise that Charlestonians were looking for a way to unwind at home. Thankfully, businesses like The Co-Op stepped up to the plate offering to-go alcohol sales. “Alcohol was definitely a lifesaver for a lot of us during COVID,” said The Co-Op owner Jess Patterson, who has been running the frose stop and eatery for the past eight years. “Consumption was up and our frose was a product that people wanted to try and had access to.” And, who could blame them? With flavors like blackberry lavender, mojito, cherry cola and the OG flavor strawberry, we’d opt for a bottle of frose over a Bud Light any day.
