The new rules, in line with federal guidelines, say masks are “strongly encouraged” but optional for fully vaccinated individuals. Some local governments still have their local mask rules in place. South Carolina health officials reported 158 total cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday (112 confirmed, 46 probable), with two confirmed deaths.

With 5,602 tests reported Tuesday, 3.7% were positive.
