After a year of cancelled events and festivals, Piccolo Spoleto and Spoleto Festival USA have returned (see all coverage below) — though things are sure to look a bit different than the last time the festivities were held during the pre-COVID era.

Piccolo Spoleto kicks off on Friday, May 28, with a series of events including a poetry series and outdoor dance performances. Piccolo will include a mix of virtual and in-person events with COVID safety measures in place. And, this year, all Piccolo Spoleto events are completely free to the public. Check out our Piccolo Spoleto 2021 Guide to view the full schedule.

Spoleto Festival USA, the American counterpart to the original Festival dei Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, will also run Friday, May 28 through Sunday, June 13 with a combination of in-person and virtual events. Though the festival has scaled back its offerings from previous years, it will still feature more than 70 performances at indoor and outdoor venues including the Dock Street Theatre, College of Charleston Cistern Yard and Festival Hall.
