Tropical Storm Elsa is expected to sweep out of South Carolina today — after remaining a tropical storm and bringing tornado threats, lightning and heavy rain to much of the state in the early morning hours. The storm is expected to remain a tropical storm through Friday as it moves north through Massachusetts. Yesterday, at least one person in Florida died as the storm raged from that state to Georgia and the Carolinas.
