Local rapper MiKE L!VE aka Mike Greene will take the stage at Tobin’s Market with SK, the Novelist and DJ Flip on Fri., July 30.
While he has been pulled to the stage to rap a few lines during other artists’ sets at the venue in the past, this will be his first time headlining. He’s performing with Raleigh-based collaborator SK, the Novelist. The two have worked together on everything from Greene’s first musical project, “Examples of __ to Inspire You,” to his most recent single, “Gathering Dust.”
Greene describes his style as consistently inconsistent. “You might hear a single from me and it’s dark and gloomy — and the next single very well could be happy-go-lucky,” Greene said. He embraces both the trappy “new school” and the lyric-driven style of the ‘90s.
He is looking forward to performing with Charleston’s DJ Flip for the first time, who’s scratching style will be the perfect fit for the show. “Flip has a great ability,” he said.
Besides being the rapper’s official Tobin’s Market debut, it will be his first performance since the shutdown. He loves a high-energy moment and is looking forward to bringing that out of the crowd.
“This will be a big breakthrough for me. It’s the first big show I’ve done since quarantine. I’m excited to get back on my grind and spread my wings.”
Tickets are $12 for the 7 p.m. show.
