Dedicated fans of Pubfare’s cheesy, messy, indulgent double patty burger should probably stop reading.
Jason Bell and Jarrod Gass’ cult-favorite pop-up will close indefinitely, Bell wrote on social media to Pubfare’s 15,000-plus Instagram followers.
“We’ve put this announcement off as it’s been a difficult decision, but we’re going to be taking a break for a while,” Bell said. “We don’t know our exact timeline at the moment, but for now it’s the right thing to do.”
Pubfare first popped up in September 2017 during a Charleston Beer Week event at Kudu Coffee and Craft Beer, serving its signature burger: Double patty, American cheese, pickles, onions and special sauce. In the four years since, Charlestonians have showed up to local breweries and neighborhoods in droves to sample the burger, which Pubfare prefers to serve without any modifications.
Bell hinted at an eventual return of the pop-up in the future but did not provide a timeline.
“We’ve had a great run and want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has supported us over the last couple of years,” Bell wrote. “Also, to all of our hosts, we appreciate you all and are thankful for the relationships we’ve built along the way.”
