For the past two and half years, local singer Charles Grant has been performing with vocalists Leroy Stewart and Bill Durant in Legacy trio, but on Saturday, Grant will be joined by Anthony McKnight and Raymond Rhett of the Black Velvets to deliver renditions of The Temptations, Smokey Robinson and Stylistics for two shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

Legacy’s R&B harmonies will be supported by Unit Band, which consists of bassist Jeff Holt, keyboardist Larry Ford and drummer Gerald Williams, as well as saxophonist Jon Phillips.

Legacy trio covers music from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s such as The Delfonics, Kool & the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire.

“Music like that, it doesn’t need to be enhanced,” Grant said. “That’s the music I grew up on. It’s the music [underneath] everything that comes now. It’s still being sampled today.”

“Listen to the album What’s Going On? that came out in 1971 from Marvin Gaye. You would think that album came out this year, not 50 years ago.”
