Patrons at Charleston’s King Street karaoke joint, Bangkok Lounge, were treated to a surprise performance Monday night when singer-songwriter and Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker stepped up to the mic.

Damn, Darius — talk about showing up everyone else in the bar. Our condolences to whoever had to follow his performance of Marc Cohn’s “Walking in Memphis.”

This isn’t the first time Rucker, who lives in Mount Pleasant, has brandished his musical chops during karaoke in Charleston. A patron at Art’s Bar and Grill captured a video of Rucker performing the same song in 2016. Apparently, “Walking in Memphis” is the singer’s go-to karaoke tune.

Cullen Baney at Bangkok Lounge said “Memphis” was the only tune Rucker stepped in on Monday.

Rucker isn’t the only recent celebrity spottings in Charleston. Eater Carolina reported a Bill Murray sighting outside of Fast and French as he paused for a staged nap on the sidewalk next to an infant in a stroller.

And, actor Chevy Chase showed up for a shift at Raising Cane’s last week on Dec. 2, serving customers at the drive-thru and talking to others in the dining room while he enjoyed his lunch.

The two Caddyshack co-stars apparently joined forces during Chase’s visit to Charleston as he Tweeted a photo of them together (accompanied with a lewd caption).
